Join us in celebrating the great flavours of England’s Oldest Brewery, Shepherd Neame. Founded in Faversham Kent, in 1698, the town has a long standing tradition of celebrating the annual hops harvest. With a large range of delicious beers they brew they are able to supply which are featured across so many of Kents great beer gardens.

Oysters have often been consumed with beer, particularly ale which was enjoyed in taverns along the Thames Estuary. The rich creamy flavour of stouts is often first choice for many. The great pairing of Guinness, with a half dozen freshly shucked oysters served with lemon is second to none.

Oysters were actually used in producing beers. Which is where we get Oyster Stouts. Discarded shells are used during a process called clarification where particles are removed, post fermentation to give that notably smooth texture.

Kent is also known for its oysters which are perfect in pairing with any of the beers served across the town of Faversham during the festival. The hops which are grown in the chalky soil of Kent, which was formed millions of years ago from the of ancient sea creatures from which Oysters are descended. Whitstable Oysters are often enjoyed freshly shucked across Kent in many venues which also serve Shepherd Neame beers such as Spitfire Lager, Master Brew, and the Whitstable Bay range.
